Groupies

Groups bring with it their own dynamic. Sometimes, they’re very easy to shoot while at other times they are much, much harder. There’s an expression that says one bad apple spoils the barrel and the same applies to group photography. If one person has their eyes closed or is frowning or is about to share a joke, the photo is ruined. As a result, I always shoot more – way more – than I need because its only days later on my laptop that I see the imperfections that mar an otherwise perfect picture.

Whatever the group, every shot has to have an element of spontaneity in it for it to be special. There are just too many people who all have things to do and places to be, so you have to think fast, act fast. But I’m never hasty; I never leave until I get the shot.
