Blue Sky Thinking

One day I was covering an event at the Collective Arts Brewery – I walked outside, looked up, thought “that’s nice” and snapped a photo. It turned out to be my favourite image of the day.

I find buildings really fun to shoot because I find it’s often more about what you don’t show than what you do. Everybody shoots murals or trees or people, but when you get a good-looking building and crop it just so, you get not only to see the structure but you get to see inside the head of the architect who designed it. That’s why I also love these nighttime shots – the buildings come to the fore in a way they just don’t during the day. I think that’s really cool.
