World’s Away
Even though some of these shots are candid and other shots are staged, they all have one thing in common: patience. People are either wary or too aware of the camera, so I wait for the moment where they forget the camera is there. That’s when I shoot. Lots of other photographers just walk up, go *click* and think they have the shot. I prefer to stake out my framing and then just… wait. Kind of like a hunter, but nobody gets hurt.
When I was shooting the artist group TH&B, they were all fairly standard portraits until two of them reacted to something off-camera, and the other two stayed ‘in character.’ I loved the contrast. I snapped the picture and thought, “Yep, nailed it!”
